Browsing, searching and the voice game

You can browse without creating an account. There are no contact forms, mailing lists, purchases or advertising on this site. The gallery code does not add analytics or advertising trackers.

Your search, selected year and guesses stay in your browser’s memory while the page is open. The game asks for no answer or personal information. These interactions are not submitted to a database and the website does not save them in cookies or local storage.

Website hosting

The site is hosted through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare. Like other web hosts, these services receive connection information such as your IP address, requested address and browser information to deliver pages and protect the service. Hosting providers may use security or service cookies. Their handling of that information is covered by their own policies.

Portraits, audio and archive links

Portraits are loaded from Wikimedia Commons and other credited image sources. When you press a listening button, audio is requested directly from the credited archive or media provider. Your browser shares the connection information needed to retrieve that content with that provider.

Some recordings open a separate source website. That website has its own privacy and cookie practices. Review its policies before using it. The original source is listed in Recording details & sources.

Cookies and your choices

The gallery’s own code does not set cookies. It does not install optional analytics, advertising or social-media embeds. External image, audio and hosting services can have their own service and security behaviour; this page does not claim that every external request is cookie-free.

You can manage or block cookies and external content through your browser settings. Blocking some services may stop portraits or audio from loading. You can still follow a recording’s source link.

Questions and updates
